About My Photography
Photography has been a casual hobby for more than years. But recently I've become increasingly intrigued. Why? Because it's literally helped me focus on on some aspects of life that were just a blur for the past few years.
I'm an amateur, but I've been asked to shoot a few promotional events, some portrait photography, had my work used on a couple of different record albums, on websites, blogs, newspapers, and even published in a couple of books.
Over the last couple of years photography has garnered more emotional importance in my life. There are some people with whom I don't get enough time, so I take a lot of photos to look at when I can't be with my loved ones.
My philosophy is that once an image is captured it has to be processed to bring out not only what the photographer saw, but what he felt. The photographer can process the image and create a whole spectrum of art, ranging from ordinary to extraordinary. As I shoot more I see that photography is opportunistic and timing is paramount. Even a subject's facial expression can change hundreds of time a minute. Photography provides voyeurism into ephemeral moments. It can then be studied and appreciated well after the moment has passed. And like all art it can be interpreted by people in different ways.
I recently talked with a "real" professional photographer who told me she doesn't get much time to play around and be artistic. I'm satisfied just keeping this as a hobby, and I'm not good enough to go full time. So I'll keep my day job Yahoo!
